From a sunny beach day to a lively night out, it all begins at Que pasa?, the cocktail bar by Pärnu beach.
Pärnu wants you to enjoy yourself year-round—and let’s be honest, after a day at the beach or spa and a few cold drinks, it’s hard not to feel like heading out for some nightlife.
If the weather’s on your side and the sea breeze is appealing, your evening can continue right by the beach. Along the promenade that borders the sandy shore, you’ll find several summer bars. While names and owners have changed over the years, the laid-back vibe remains. Especially on weekends, you’ll find live music or DJ sets and lively terrace scenes going until midnight. Check out the atmosphere at Vaib, Düün, and Juniperium—all favourites among locals and tourists alike.
The Sunset nightclub and cocktail terrace, with its iconic round balcony on the second floor of the beach building, is a landmark for Pärnu’s night owls. Foam parties lasting until sunrise have become legendary, and most beach festival afterparties end up on the dance floor of Sunset or at Sugar, a nightclub located on Vee Street at the western edge of the Old Town. Behind the former mud spa—now Hedon Spa Hotel—you’ll find Kuursaal, a charming historic venue that has hosted evening entertainment for over a century. On weekends, it’s a hot spot for live gigs by Estonian bands.
It’s always smart to fuel up before a long night out, and Supeluse Street—Pärnu’s official summer street—is the place to do it. Recently renovated, this charming pedestrian street, closed to traffic in summer with cute elephant barriers, connects the beach park to the city centre. It’s lined with restaurants, cafés, fast food stands, and summer bars.
It’s hard to resist the siren call of Kassa, a nightclub located in a former officers’ club building on the corner of Rüütli Street in the heart of the city. Previously known as Mirage for over two decades, the venue has a 25+ age limit, and offers cocktail crash courses for groups of ten or more by request.
In the nightlife cluster around Rüütli’s pedestrian street and its intersecting streets Hommiku and Pühavaimu, you’ll also find Vaarikas nightclub, a shot bar called Koobas, and A.P.T.E.K., a former pharmacy transformed into a stylish cocktail and snack club.
Fans of heavier music should head to the courtyard behind the Port Artur shopping centre, where Wunderbaar and the rock club Garaaž are tucked away on Lai Street. On Kuninga Street, a bar called Krõhva stands out as one of Pärnu’s most LGBT-friendly venues. With its punky and underground vibes, themed weekend parties often have dress codes you can check in advance on their Instagram: @kr6hva_bar.
And what about holidaymakers with a burning passion for karaoke? Pärnu’s got you covered. You can sing your heart out all year long at CocoLoco Karaoke Bar on Rüütli Street and Alex Maja’s karaoke pub on Kuninga Street. In autumn and winter, karaoke also lights up the Viiking Spa Hotel’s lobby bar every Wednesday.
As disappointing as it may be, some of Pärnu’s most interesting bars and clubs still cater primarily to locals rather than midweek tourists. So yes, even in summer, you might see the phrase: “open (only) on Friday and Saturday evenings.” Don’t let it discourage you—Pärnu is compact, and just around the corner or on the next block, you’re sure to find another spot to match your vibe.
