Exciting events in Estonia this week

20 April–2 May Student Days, Tartu

The second week of the social student festival offers free entertainment also for the general public, including competitions held around the city during the daytime such as slime staircase climbing, mud wrestling, and beer crate tower climbing.

25 April–2 May Jazzkaar, Tallinn, Põlva, and Otepää

Two Miles Davis tribute concerts, a performance by harpist Valter Soosalu with UMO on Walpurgis Night, and appearances by David Bowie’s longtime saxophonist Donny McCaslin in Põlva and Tallinn are among the musical highlights of the opening festival week.

25 April–17 May Photo Exhibition “If Clothes Could Talk”, Pärnu

The Finnish–Estonian photo exhibition and audio work “If Clothes Could Talk…” presents the life stories of elderly people and their relationship with clothing through portrait photography.

30 April–2 May Horror Film Festival, Haapsalu

HÕFF, the Haapsalu Horror, Cult and Fantasy Film Festival, focuses for the 21st time on films awarded or praised at the world’s best-known genre festivals, which have not been shown in Estonian cinemas. In the halls and corridors of the cultural centre, even screenings starting after midnight can have a spine-chilling atmosphere.

1 May American Classic Cars at the Song Festival Grounds, Tallinn

The opening celebration of the American car enthusiasts’ driving season and exhibition brings over 500 vehicles, along with themed music, food, and atmosphere, to the roads and park of the Song Festival Grounds. Additional entertainment includes a rally sprint competition in the crosskart class.

1 May 97th Viljandi Lake Run, Viljandi

This public running event, held since 1928, is the oldest in Estonia and one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. The route around the lake is 12 kilometres along the shoreline, but participants can choose their own path between mandatory checkpoints—either a fast but longer forest trail or a shorter shortcut through a marshy lakeside meadow. Age groups range from 14 to 80+.

1 May Open Air Museum Spring Festival and Market, Tallinn

The Estonian Open Air Museum hosts a large spring market along with a themed day focused on the spread of information and rumours, taking place in farm buildings and courtyards representing different regions and eras. Musical performances take place at 15:00 in Kolu Tavern and at 11:30 and 13:00 at the fire station shed.

1–2 May Great Vanamõisa Spring Fair, Saue

Held just outside Tallinn, along the railway line to Keila and next to a popular caravan park, the large fair features over 400 vendors from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Finland. On offer are plants, handicrafts, clothing, home goods, nostalgic items, delicious food and drinks—everything imaginable.

1–3 May Circus show “Journey to the Stars”, Jõhvi

Circus art has not disappeared in Estonia despite the digital age. Acrobats, clowns, aerial performers, and many others perform live throughout the summer in shows lasting over an hour and a half as the Estonian circus tours the country. Watch the video.

2 May Tallinn Saxfest 2026, Tallinn

A group of saxophone stars from Estonia and abroad gather near Balti Jaam Market to showcase their talent in a one-day mini festival following May Day celebrations. Performers include Jimi Tenor from Finland and Steve Vanon, who moved from the United States to Estonia 15 years ago.
