Estonia’s Own Björk to Perform in Tallinn

Iiris Vesik, who has lived and made music in England for years and has reached the top five three times in Estonia’s Eurovision selection, will perform with her band Night Tapes in Tallinn on 31 January. Thanks to her distinctive personality, Iiris has been dubbed “Estonia’s own Björk” in music circles. Subtle influences of Kate Bush can also be sensed in her voice.

The internationally successful British–Estonian band, which has even been featured as a cover story by NME Magazine, only rarely makes it to Iiris’s home country. This time, the concert is scheduled just two days before the Estonian Music Awards (EMA) gala, where the band’s latest album “portals//polarities” has been nominated for Album of the Year. In 2024, Night Tapes won the EMA award for Best Indie Album.

The concert, held on Saturday, 31 January at 19:00 at the Von Krahl Theatre Bar in the Telliskivi Creative City, will be a special unplugged performance. Night Tapes will be joined on stage by Estonian cellist Ruslan Petrov. In connection with the concert, the band will be interviewed in English by music journalist Aleksander Algo.

Alongside Iiris, Night Tapes consists of British guitarist Sam Richards, and guitarist/bassist Max Doohan, who is also Iiris’s fiancé. More information and Iiris’s comments on the background of the unplugged concert can be read in English here, and tickets can be purchased here.
