Today, October 26, the Estonian Dance Agency (Eesti Tantsuagentuur) will premiere “Väli”, a contemporary dance piece by choreographers Valeria Tagel and Maria Uppin-Sarv. The performance explores the presence of beauty, happiness, and joy as essential antidotes to the fast-paced, overloaded rhythm of modern society.
Väli leads the audience on a journey through moments of beauty and joy that unexpectedly surface even in challenging circumstances.
The dance piece is a collaborative effort: Valeria Tagel, a dance teacher and artist with a degree from Tartu University’s Viljandi Culture Academy, and Maria Uppin-Sarv, a freelance dancer and the artistic director of the Lee Dance Ensemble.
Väli is also part of TantsuMENÜÜ, a programme by the Estonian Dance Agency that takes high-quality dance performances to communities beyond Estonia’s main cities.
Following its premiere today, Väli will have additional performances at the Estonian Dance Agency Theatre in Tallinn on October 27, and again on November 22, 23, and 24.
