Oktoberfest is the most popular festival celebrating German culture, food, and drink around the world. While the official festival takes place in Munich, and is the world’s largest folk festival, this event on 9 October in Tallinn’s Unibet Arena is nothing to laugh at. The night will be filled with music, fun, games, authentic German food, and authentic German beer imported from Munich itself!
The first Oktoberfest was in 1810, and served as a royal wedding celebration in Munich. Today it attracts millions of people who want to join in on the fun and enjoy the rich traditions and festive atmosphere of Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest in Tallinn recreates this festive spirit, offering locals and visitors alike a great opportunity to experience Bavarian culture right in the heart of Estonia.
One of the most enjoyable parts of Oktoberfest in Tallinn is the traditional outfits worn by attendees and staff alike. Dirndls are often worn by women…these are the famous dresses from the German-speaking areas of the Alps. And of course the men wear lederhosen, the traditional shorts worn by men in Southern Germany. If you want to dress up but don’t have anything, you can buy these clothes on site, as well as other accessories such as hats, Bavarian flags, and more. This is not required though, it’s just part of the fun!
The authentic German schlager band Sandhofen will perform multiple sets throughout the night. There will also be DJ music, and a German army orchestra to add to the authenticity and fun of this year’s Oktoberfest.
Foods available include anything from beer snacks to bratwurst, sauerkraut to schnitzel, and sandwich spreads to strudel. Tickets are available here, and it is also possible to order food in advance, as well as your seating selection, so you can avoid the cues on the night itself.
Single tickets are available for €42, but Oktoberfest is a group event! Get a standard table for six starting at €241, or a Supporter table for up to eight guests for a higher price. This will get you an elevated table with special service and a private bar.
