Bright & Black’s world tour starts in Tallinn

Metal and orchestral music will intertwine and create a new kind of sound world at the first gig of the Bright & Black world tour in Tallinn. The Baltic Sea Philharmonic will be led by cellist and member of the metal band Apocalyptica, Eicca Toppinen, at the concert in Tallinn on March 7.

The music of Black & Bright has been composed by metalheads for an orchestra, to create new connections between heavy metal and classical music.

Bright & Black “The Album” was made by Eicca Toppinen (Apocalyptica), Fredrik Åkesson (Opeth), Erik Danielsson (Watain), Nico Elgstrand (Entombed AD), Tomas Haake/Dick Lövgren (Meshuggah), as well as Jacob Hellner, conductor Kristjan Järvi, and the Baltic Sea Philharmonic.

Conductor Kristjan Järvi and the Baltic Sea Philharmonic are world-renowned for their boundary-breaking performances. At the concert, you won’t see orchestra musicians sitting and playing from sheet music, but everything is done with a new kind of approach. This requires sensitive responsiveness, spontaneity, and creativity from the musicians.

Eicca Toppinen joined the team at the invitation of Jacob Hellner. “Working on this project has been a great adventure for me. When Jacob Hellner asked me to join years ago, I didn’t have a clear idea of my role in the project, it has been evolving all the time, and at some point I ended up as its soloist. Writing metal music for an orchestra is so different, because an orchestra does not use traditional metal music instruments”, commented Eicca Toppinen.

Bright & Black’s world tour starts in Tallinn on March 7 and continues through Sweden and Germany to Hong Kong. You can read more about the Bright & Black project and the world tour here. From YouTube  you can listen to the full album.

Tickets for the concert are still available at Piletilevi
