Due to coronavirus restrictions, no cruise ships visited Saaremaa in 2021, and just one visited in 2020. However, this summer 10 cruise ships are expected to arrive, three more than in 2019.
The cruise season in Saaremaa opened on June 1, when the passenger ship Deutschland brought 263 passengers to the port of Saaremaa.
The port of Saaremaa is a deep-water port located on the northern coast of the island, in the village of Ninase in the municipality of Mustjala, on the shores of Küdema Bay. The port mainly receives cruise ships and pleasure boats.
A total of ten cruise ships are expected to arrive in Saaremaa this summer. In 2019, cruise ships visited Saaremaa 7 times and brought 3,836 tourists to the island. In 2020, one cruise ship visited the port of Saaremaa when Tallink’s Victoria I ship brought Finnish cruise passengers to Estonia’s largest island.
