A gala concert showcasing rare classical instruments

This Friday and Saturday (February 9-10), the popular and much anticipated Pillifond Gala will take place in Tartu and Tallinn. At the concert, you will be able to hear pieces from the likes of Halvorsen, Sarasate, and Bruch, played by some of Estonia’s most highly regarded musicians.

The Pillifond Gala is a concert that showcases the musical instruments in the Pillifond collection, by placing them in the hands of Estonia’s best musicians, such as Hans Christian Aavik and Theodor Sink. For music enthusiasts, the concert is a fantastic opportunity to hear the subtle nuances in sound generated by the rare instruments.

The focus of this year’s concert is on folk music of different countries. The program includes Halvorsen’s Passacaglia Op. 20/2, Sarasate’s “Navarra”, Bruch’s “Kol Nidre”, and Kreisler’s “Tambourin chinois”.

Tickets for Friday evening’s gala at Vanemuine Concert Hall in Tartu, and Saturday’s at Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn are still available to buy at Piletilevi
