New Hotels Coming to Tallinn and Eastern Estonia

New hotels and alternative accommodation options are springing up in Tallinn and elsewhere in Estonia like mushrooms after rain.

Last Thursday, the foundation stone was laid at the construction site of the Talsinki Quarter next to Tallinn Harbour for the new Original Sokos Hotel Talsinki. The hotel, scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2029, will have 222 rooms, two meeting rooms, a breakfast restaurant, and a bar area with terraces. Guests will be able to use external gym and spa services located in the Talsinki Quarter. The Finnish hotel operator Sokotel has already been operating in Estonia for many years as the host of the considerably larger 541-room Sokos Hotel Viru. Hotel manager Teemu Kilpiä says that the Viru Hotel will also be renovated during the construction phase of the new harbour hotel.

A year earlier, Bob W, which has expanded from Finland across Europe in eight years, will begin accommodation operations in Northern Tallinn at the former Krull factory site. Bob W will be the company’s fifth aparthotel in Tallinn, comprising 34 studio apartments, 21 one-bedroom apartments, and eight two-bedroom apartments. At around the same time, the new Kasvuhoone innovation centre for startup entrepreneurs and cultural-sector operators will also be completed in the Krulli Quarter.

Even closer to the present, just a few months from now in January 2027, Courtyard by Marriott City Centre will open its doors on Lembitu Street, right in the heart of Tallinn. Located near the Estonian National Opera and Solaris Centre, the hotel’s 108 rooms offer several different views. Some face the street, while others look towards either the garden or the covered interior atrium. Some rooms will also have balconies. The hotel will also feature a restaurant serving international modern fusion cuisine.

And even before that, travellers heading east from Tallinn can choose between two new hotels offering very different types of accommodation and experiences at different price levels. In mid-August, the luxury and zen-oriented Kurro nature spa hotel opened on the shores of Lake Peipus.

In November, the more wallet-friendly, unpretentious and environmentally conscious 72-room Park Hotell Jõhvi will hold its opening. The hotel has been built to environmentally conscious standards, as demonstrated by its LEED certification. It is located right next to a concert hall praised by music professionals for its acoustics, in a city that serves as a transport hub for eastern Estonia. Major roads as well as train and bus connections pass through Jõhvi, linking it with Narva and Tallinn, as well as Tartu via routes following the shores of Lake Peipus.
