Music for the Soul in Tallinn’s Old Town

The next concert in the free “Music for the Soul” series, organised by the PLMF Music Foundation, will take place on 14 October at 15:00 at the Swedish St Michael’s Church in Tallinn. The concert will feature music from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods.

Taking the stage will be violin students of Professor Johanna Vahermägi and piano students of Age Juurikas from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, or EMTA, and the Music and Ballet School, or MUBA.

Performers include Lisbeth Poom, Kristin Klesment, Ali Amishov, Marianne Liis Oissar, Aitana Avilés, and Darja Kisseljova. The programme will include beautiful compositions by, among others, Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, and Henri Vieuxtemps. The concert will last about 60 minutes and will also include short introductions to the pieces. Admission is free, and a collection will be taken to support the purchase of new church textiles.

Among the young performers, Lisbeth Poom is an 11th grade student at the MUBA upper secondary school. Despite her young age, she has already participated in several international projects as a chamber and orchestral musician, and has also served as principal viola.

Kristin Klesment is completing her bachelor’s degree at EMTA, has pursued further studies in Lyon, France, and has performed as a soloist with the EMTA Symphony Orchestra.

Ali Amishov, a master’s student from Azerbaijan, has studied at EMTA for over a year. He has extensive international experience as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral player, and has been appointed principal viola of the Baku Chamber Orchestra.

Darja Kisseljova is a second-year student at EMTA and a promising young musician who has achieved excellent results in numerous competitions since early childhood.

Marianne Oissar is a third-year student at EMTA who has already studied for a year in Vienna, and plans to continue her studies there starting next year.

Aitana Avilés is a Spanish pianist currently studying in the master’s programme at EMTA. Like Kisseljova and Oissar, Avilés also performs as an accompanist and musician in various ensembles.

All the performers began their music studies at a very young age, between five and six years old, and have dedicated themselves to high-level performances of classical music, already achieving significant results.
