International Music Day in Tallinn

For 50 years, International Music Day has been celebrated around the world to remind us all of one thing we have in common: music! Tallinn’s programme for the day includes 54 concerts—most of which are free—at various venues throughout the city. From saxophone and trombone, to piano and local, and even symphonic and vocal, there is a concert for everyone to attend.

One of the most awaited concerts will be by the Cello Boys, as they’re called in English, in the Hopner House right on Town Hall Square. These cellists have played together since childhood, so they can anticipate each other’s music with perfection. Tickets are limited, so get yours now, here. What makes the concert even better is they’ll have a Finnish drummer!

Other venues holding concerts will be the Estonian Academy of Arts, the recently renamed Mere Cultural Centre, the Estonia National Opera, and even Viru Shopping Mall and a hospital. The Kadriorg Art Museum will also have concerts, a library, and various churches. And for those going to Finland in the evening, there will be a couple of concerts on the ferry. Later in the evening there will be concerts in the T1 and Solaris shopping malls.

International Music Day won’t be celebrated only in Tallinn. Every county in Estonia will have at least one or two concerts. If you are interested in attending but you’re not going to be in Tallinn, check here to find the closest concert to your location.
