Pärnu Day full of fun events

Pärnu is known as the summer capital of Estonia, and the coastal city is celebrating its 760th anniversary this year. Pärnu Day, which was first held in 2011, will showcase food, festivals, art, photography, various other fun activities, and a major concert by NOËP that night.

Pärnu Day will kick off with a barbeque on Martens Square at 11:00. If you’d prefer fish, then you can also attend the “Meritindi Festival” nearby. Meritint, or smelt, is a locally popular fish. This fish festival will also feature live music, events for the whole family, and a wide selection of top chefs’ takes on smelt for visitors to feast on.

At noon there will be a Shakespearean improv event, as well as “The Great Pärnu Day Quiz”, to test your knowledge of the internationally famous seaside city in Estonia. There will also be a guided photographic tour of the city if you register in advance, followed by a short, local cruise, and a Pärnu-themed stand-up comedy show.

And then the pièce de résistance of Pärnu Day: a concert by Estonia’s own and internationally famous NOËP, accompanied by the Pärnu City Orchestra. in the Pärnu Concert Hall.

More information on Pärnu Day is available in Estonian here, and tickets to NOËP’s concert are available here. There will also be an afterparty starting at 21:00 in Wunderbaar, a smaller concert venue and bar.
