airBaltic launches free Starlink internet onboard

Latvian airline airBaltic has made history by becoming the first airline in Europe to provide free high-speed internet access via SpaceX’s Starlink on its Airbus A220-300 fleet. This milestone, marked by certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), signals a new era of seamless inflight connectivity for passengers.

To celebrate, airBaltic hosted a special flight from Riga Airport, inviting key stakeholders, media representatives, and influencers to experience the capabilities of Starlink.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This is not just a step forward; it is a revolution in aviation.”

With the installation of Starlink underway, airBaltic expects its entire fleet to be upgraded by the end of 2025, offering passengers uninterrupted, high-speed internet from boarding to landing. Starlink provides speeds of up to 500 Mbps, enabling activities such as online gaming and streaming, previously unavailable during flights. This innovation positions airBaltic at the forefront of modern air travel connectivity, enhancing the passenger experience.
