Finnish and Estonian artists open joint exhibition in Tallinn

The Kadriorg Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition featuring Estonian and Finnish artists titled Isiklik Vaade (Personal View in English). This exhibition is a result of the collaboration between the Estonian Painters’ Association and the Helsinki Artists’ Association, which began in 2021. Since the project’s inception, eight major exhibitions have already been held in Tallinn, Pärnu, and Helsinki.

Isiklik Vaade features works by Jaan Elken, Vilen Künnapu, Tiiu Rebane, and Mall Nukke from Estonia, as well as Satu Kalliokuusi, Kirsi-Marja Moberg, and Mika Vesalahti from Finland. The exhibition focuses on the distinctive ways in which these artists explore various subjects, thoughts, philosophies, and ideas, incorporating both paintings and visual art inspired by poetry.

The exhibition is spread across four floors of the architecturally stunning Kadriorg Gallery, which writer and documentarian Imbi Paju has aptly referred to as Estonia’s “Guggenheim.” The gallery was designed by the renowned Estonian artist and architect Vilen Künnapu, who has also been recognised in Finland for his work.

Kadriorg Gallery primarily showcases Estonian art, but also features works by international artists. It is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7.30 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm.

Isiklik Vaade will remain open until November 16, 2024.
