Balti Jaam train station temporarily closed for tunnel work

From July 15 to 21, the Balti Jaam train station in Tallinn will be closed to facilitate the construction of a new pedestrian tunnel under the Paldiski Road viaduct. This temporary closure means significant changes to Elron trains and public transportation services in the city.

Throughout this week, Elron trains will have temporary start and end stations at Lilleküla, Kitseküla, and Tallinn-Väike. Passengers planning to travel during this time must note these stations when purchasing tickets or checking schedules. For example, a trip on the Tallinn-Tartu line should be booked as Kitseküla-Tartu.

To assist non-Tallinn resident Elron passengers, the city will provide free transport on several bus, trolleybus, and tram lines during the construction period. These lines will make it possible to travel between Baltic Jaam and the temporary start/end stations—Lilleküla, Kitseküla, and Tallinn-Väike.

As a result, passengers should allow extra time for getting to and from the stations. In addition to public transport, it is also possible to get to Lilleküla, Kitseküla, and Tallinn-Väike stations on foot or by using electric scooters. Tuul, a local electric scooter company, is offering a 15 per cent discount on rides with the promo code ELRON2024.

In addition to the station changes, passengers should pay close attention to signage at Lilleküla, Tondi, Järve, Rahumäe, Nõmme, Hiiu, and Kivimäe stations for updated departure track information. Trains will depart from either track 1 or track 2, and proper signage will guide passengers to the correct platforms.

You can learn more about which train routes will be served from each of the stations, as well as the free public transport options on the official Elron website
