Tallink Grupp has released its passenger and freight statistics for June and the second quarter of 2024. In the second quarter of 2024 (April-June), the company carried 1,451,768 passengers, which was 5.8 per cent less than in the same period last year.
In June 2024, the company carried 570 803 passengers, 3.7 per cent fewer than in June 2023 (592 887 passengers in June 2023).
The number of freight units transported in June fell by 8.5 per cent to 25,383 units (27,738 units in June 2023), while the total number of passenger cars transported also fell by 9.8 per cent to 86,651 vehicles (96,086 passenger cars in June 2023).
“The results for the second quarter of 2024 were affected by the fact that Easter was celebrated in March this year. In April, our freight volumes increased due to the aftermath of the strikes in Finland at the beginning of the year. In May, our passenger volumes increased with the arrival of warm summer rays, which encouraged people to travel more. We hope that during the busy season in July and August, we will be able to welcome more holidaymakers and tourists on board our ships to enjoy the beautiful Baltic Sea. Summer is the perfect time for spontaneous short breaks and cruises”, commented Piret Mürk-Dubout, a member of the Tallink Grupp Management Team.
