A festival dedicated to guitar music

The Tallinn Guitar Festival will take place from June 9-14 this year. The annual event showcases a diverse range of guitar styles performed by internationally acclaimed musicians. The festival offers concerts, masterclasses, and an opportunity for young talent to shine.

Founded in 2006 by Tiit Peterson, one of Estonia’s most esteemed guitarists, the festival has become a significant cultural event in the Baltics and across Europe. The festival has a rich program that includes sunset concerts at the Tallinn TV Tower, performances in the majestic House of the Blackheads in Tallinn’s historic old town, and intimate gatherings in the Kadriorg Palace. As well as performances outside the city in Viimsi and Keila.

The festival will begin on May 9 with a concert by Borbála Seres at Kadriorg Palace in Tallinn. The Hungarian musician is known for her ability to evoke emotion in her listeners. She has also taken part in international competitions since an early age, never failing to finish in the top three, a clear sign of her constant high standards.

The rest of the week contains performances from the Diknu Schneeberger Trio from Austria (June 10-11), Le soleil et la lune from Estonia (June 12), and Claudio Farione from Italy (June 13).

The festival will end on June 14 at the House of the Blackheads in Tallinn with a performance by Brazilian guitar icons Sérgio and Odair Assad. The brothers, who are best known for their re-workings of folk and jazz music as well as Latin music of almost every style, have also collaborated with other world-renowned artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and Fernando Suarez Paz.
