A concert that fuses traditional Japanese and Estonian music

This week, there will be a unique concert that fuses traditional Japanese and Estonian music. At the concerts in Tallinn, Pärnu, and Jõhvi, audiences will hear the Japanese Taiko drum group perform alongside the Estonian National Male Choir and Liisi Koikson.

Taiko drums, which are used in temple rituals, are believed to have both a cleansing power and deep spiritual meaning in Japan. In the country, they are often accompanied by Japanese flutes and traditional dancing.

However, on this occasion, they will be complemented by the rich vocal tones of the Estonian National Male Choir under the baton of conductor Mikk Üleoja. They will also be joined on stage by Estonian singer Liisi Koikson, who is known for her versatility across genres, as well as Raun Juurikas on keyboard and Martin Petermann on percussion.

Tickets for the concerts in Tallinn (February 29), Pärnu (March 1), and Jõhvi (March 2) are still available to buy at Piletilevi
