This evening, January 19, the city of Võru will play host to the last warm-up event in southern Estonia before the official opening ceremony of Tartu’s year as the European Capital of Culture next week. The city’s central square will host a concert highlighting local artists.
In preparation of Tartu’s year as the European Capital of Culture in 2024, a number of warm-up events have been held in smaller cities around southern Estonia, such as Valga. As with all of these celebrations so far, the concert in Võru’s central square will highlight local artists.
The headline act of the concert will be the Võru born Uku Suviste, who is well-known to Estonians, and also represented the country at Eurovision in 2021. He will join forces on stage with the reggae and ska band Angus to inject warm summer vibes on what will likely be a cold evening. There will also be a DJ from northern Finland.
Those attending the free event are encouraged to arrive using public transport or by foot.
