Valga will host the inaugural event of Tartu’s year as the European Capital of Culture this evening (January 5). Visitors to the free event, which will begin at 7 pm at Valga Sports Hall, will be treated to live music from award-winning and international artists.
Valga, Tõrva, and Otepää parishes will join forces to host the first celebration as part of Tartu’s year as European Capital of Culture 2024.
Southern Estonia’s musical prowess will take centre stage at the event this evening (January 5) at Valga Sports Hall. Karmen Rõivassepp, a Danish Jazz Music Awards 2023 nominee, will return to her hometown to perform. Local reggae and ska band, Angus, will also add a summer vibe to the festivities. In addition to the live music, DJ Magnuss Eriņš from Latvia will heat up the border town of Valga with a lively DJ set.
People attending the event, which is completely free of charge, are encouraged to arrive by foot or public transport. More information is available on the official Tartu European Capital of Culture 2024 website.
