Estonian Sinfonietta season-opening concert today

Estonian Sinfonietta will open their season with a concert entitled “Chimes”.  The highlight of the concert will be Jaakko Kuusisto’s magical Cello Concerto, which will be performed in Estonia for the first time.

The Estonian Sinfonietta concert series will be framed by Arvo Pärt’s Tabula rasa, the first part Ludus / Mäng, being performed at the opening concert today and the second part Silentium / Vaikus at the final concert in May next year. Robert Jürjendal will also create a new piece for the final concert in May.

The program of the opening concert on Sunday, October 22, will include works from Veljo Tormis, Jaan Rääts, and Arvo Pärt. The soloists for the evening will be Maila Laidna and Andreas Lend, and for Tabula rasa Part I Ludus, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny and Peeter Margus.

However, the highlight of the concert will be the Estonian premiere of Jaakko Kuusisto’s Cello Concerto, which will be performed by Jan-Erik Gustafsson.

Tickets for the concert are available at Piletilevi, as well as at the venue 1 hour before the concert.
