On the evening of May 20, Museum Night, which was organised for the 14th time this year, attracted more than 70,000 visitors to the 188 museums around Estonia.
“Museums were particularly inventive this year and offered a wide variety of activities and special programs. The most popular were the thematic excursions. Small museums grew visitor numbers especially rapidly. I would single out Hiiumaa’s memory institutions and the Valga museum, the first was distinguished by the diversity of participating memory institutions and an exciting program,” explained Anu Viltrop, the head of the Estonian Museum Association.
“The public has also accepted the 1 euro ticket well, and several visitors claimed that it was the best euro they had spent in their lives. It can be safely said that museum visitors appreciate quality content more and more. This gives us the motivation to make Museum Night even better next year! We thank all museum visitors for their visits and positive feedback,” Viltrop added.
As part of the Museum Night, you could also purchase a Museum Card at a discounted price (code MUSEUM NIGHT). Museum visitors took this opportunity as more than 4,000 Museum Cards were sold in total.
