Kino Sõprus will open a new cinema at the Kai Art Center in Noblessner on April 20, which is also the 67th anniversary of the cinema chain.
“Sõprus has always been a two-screen cinema, but that doesn’t mean the theatres have to be in the same building. The people of North Tallinn are the Sõprus target group, and we will now give them the opportunity to visit the cinema closer to home in the Noblessner quarter,” explained cinema owner Indrek Kasela.
The opening of the new cinema at Kai Art Center (Kai kunstikeskus) marks the first time since 1995 when Kino Sõprus has operated two screens. With their other current location being in Artis in the Solaris shopping centre.
The newly renovated location at Kai Keskus can seat 70 people. The plan is to show both modern and classic films, as well as children’s films.
The first movie to be shown at 19:00 on April 20 will be Chino Moya’s, “Undergods”. The movie, which is a dark collection of surreal stories about human weaknesses, was co-produced with Estonian production company, Homeless Bob Production. The film is in English, with Estonian subtitles.
