The budget supermarket chain Lidl has announced that it will create 800 new positions in Estonia’s four largest Towns – Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu and Narva. According to the Chairman of Lidl Estonia, Jakob Josefsson, this is a big step towards opening their first stores in Estonia.
At present, 8 stores are planned for Estonia, and although we do not have any fixed dates yet as to when the first of these will open. We do know how much Lidl is planning to offer store employees in terms of salary.
According to Liina Kippasto, Head of the Personnel Department, hourly pay will start at 6.40 euros per hour in Tallinn. With a slightly lower figure of 6.10 euros per hour in other cities. This level of salary places Lidl 25 per cent above the market average in the sector. The company has also stated that they will pay employees for every minute worked, as well as provide additional health insurance.
