10–20 September Estonian Open Bowling Tournament, Tallinn

The international tournament, with a €33,000 prize pool and personal glory at stake, will bring around 300 bowlers from Estonia and abroad to compete in Tallinn. The tournament is recognised by the European Bowling Federation, and spectators can follow the action from the heart of the event, at Elamus Bowling’s 200-seat pub.

 

16–19 September Wandering Lights Festival, Tallinn

For two decades, the Valgus kõnnib light festival has filled Kadriorg Park with numerous beautiful light installations, outdoor candles and light animations projected onto the walls of buildings. Rather than the noisy bustle of a market, the atmosphere among the large crowds is more reverent.

 

18 September Duo Ruut Free Concert, Jõhvi

Duo Ruut’s outdoor concert, held to celebrate the autumn equinox, invites audiences to enjoy nature and music in the sacred Tammiku Grove near Jõhvi. The free event also offers free bus transport from Jõhvi to the concert venue and back.

 

18–20 September International Art Fair, Tallinn

Held every two years at the Kai Art Centre in Noblessner, the international Foto Tallinn art fair presents artists and galleries curated by a jury. This time, collectors and art lovers can discover the latest works of photographic art by 45 creative artists from Estonia, Finland and elsewhere in the world, all under one roof.

 

19 September Paunvere Grand Fair, Palamuse

For almost 30 years, the Paunvere Grand Fair has brought tens of thousands of visitors to Jõgeva County to discover and buy farm produce, organic food, handicrafts and antiques from more than 1,000 vendors. This warm and welcoming rural event also offers cultural entertainment and experiences for the whole family.

 

19 September Hiiumaa Autumn Market, Kärdla

Held in Kärdla’s central square from 9:00 to 14:00, the market offers plenty of local delicacies, autumn produce, handicrafts and baked goods. The programme also includes a market lottery, the selection of Hiiumaa’s best homemade jam and horse-drawn carriage rides.

 

19–20 September PROTO Robotics Days, Tallinn

As part of the themed days spread over two autumn weekends, children, young people and adults can explore opportunities for pursuing hobbies and studies in robotics at PROTO Invention Factory. Alongside demonstrations, building and controlling robots, visitors can also make their own miniature wind-powered car.

 

19–20 September Mountain Bike Marathon 2026, Tartu

Organised since 1998 and now the largest mountain biking event in the Baltic states, this competitive and recreational event offers routes of varying lengths and profiles through the landscapes of Otepää and Elva, ranging from 21 km to a challenging 123 km gravel-road course. On Sunday, the youngest members of the family can also take part in their own mini cycling events at Tartu’s Tähtvere Sports Park.

 

20 September Opening of Estonia’s Autumn Capital, Narva

The arrival of Narva’s annual title as Estonia’s Autumn Capital launches a three-month programme of events offering culture, sport and entertainment for visitors and locals alike. At the opening concert, “Made in Narva”, the city’s symphony orchestra will perform works by composers from Narva, some of them as world premieres.

 

20 September Estonian Bread Day, Tallinn

National Bread Day is celebrated at the Estonian Open Air Museum near Rocca al Mare by showcasing the stages of rye bread production, from growing and milling rye to baking the delicious bread and traditional ways of eating it. The autumn market taking place simultaneously on the museum grounds is also a good place to pick up some treats to take home.
