Kings of Leon Live in Tallinn

Kings of Leon are one of the biggest bands to come out of the early 21st century music scene in the US. On 14 June they will have their debut performance in Estonia, in Tallinn’s Unibet Arena Quarter. This will be the band’s only appearance this summer in the Baltics or Finland, and somehow tickets are still available, despite the massive audience expected across this part of Europe.
Formed in Tennessee in 1999 and consisting of three brothers and their cousin, Kings of Leon rose from Southern rock beginnings to become a global arena act. Their international breakthrough came with the 2008 album “Only by the Night”, which featured the hit singles “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody”. Over the course of their career, the band has won four Grammy Awards and multiple BRIT Awards, while headlining some of the world’s most prestigious festivals, including Coachella, Glastonbury Festival, Roskilde Festival, and Lollapalooza.
Audiences can follow brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill along with their cousin Matthew Followill, who will take the stage in Unibet Arena’s new outdoor venue known as Unibet Arena Quarter, a very large and modern stadium-scale venue in the western part of Tallinn. Kings of Leon will have the Austrian indie-rock duo Cari Cari as the opening act.
Just as a fun side comment, this writer has a friend whose mother loves Kings of Leon, and proudly announced her intention to go see a live concert by what she referred to as the “Lion Kings”.
Unibet Arena Quarter is easily accessible by car, public transport, or even on foot. Doors open at 18:00, and the approximate end of the concert will be around 23:00. More information, as well as tickets, are available here.
