“Countryside Tastes and Senses” Features Central Estonian Foods and Drinks

Foods, beverages, and tales from Järva, Jõgeva, and Rapla Counties—Central Estonia—will be available at a fair in Tallinn’s T1 Mall on Saturday, 14 March from noon until 18:00. The best local producers from this region will present their goods and talk about them. The “Countryside Tastes and Senses” fair, or in Estonian “Maa maitsed ja meeled”, will offer flavours that normally don’t get that much attention in the tourism sector.

This is also a great opportunity for visitors to experience what Jõgeva County specifically has to offer, because this location is Estonia’s official “food ambassador” for 2026. Each year Estonia chooses one region to be its national ambassador for cuisine, and Jõgeva has chosen the theme of “Jõgeva sets the table.”

Organised by the Lõuna-Järvamaa Co-operation Association in cooperation with regional partners and supported by the Sustainable Central Estonia project, “Countryside Tastes and Senses” invites visitors to discover and taste authentic local foods and beverages, meet producers face-to-face, and explore products that celebrate rural culture. The event is part of a broader initiative aimed at boosting visibility and market opportunities for Central Estonia’s small businesses, and increasing awareness of the region’s rich culinary heritage.

The event offers a variety of tastings, product presentations, and engaging encounters with the people behind the region’s food culture. Throughout the day, visitors of all ages can enjoy a lively cultural programme featuring performances by the youth band Raju Teele, along with both well-known and emerging solo artists. The atmosphere will encourage conversation, and discovery by sampling handcrafted delicacies, learning about traditional production methods, and trying new flavours.

“Countryside Tastes and Senses” is a free event. More information can be found in Estonian here.
