The Orb Returning to Tallinn

The Orb, the popular British duo whose second album reached number one in the UK charts in 1991, are coming back to Estonia to perform in Tallinn’s Paavli Culture Factory on 17 April. They last performed in Estonia at September’s Station Narva festival. The band have been involved with many highly influential projects over the years.

Originally formed in the 1980s, Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty founded The Orb to create a unique mixture of styles. Ambient and Chicago house, synth sounds, and samples from all the way back to the 70s leave listeners with a distinct feeling of relaxation. Paterson was once a roadie for Killing Joke, the punk band perhaps best known for their 1985 riff from “Eighties”, which was unceremoniously plagiarised by Nirvana in their 1992 megahit “Come as You Are”.

Cauty, a.k.a. Rockman Rock, is best known for his membership in The KLF, the number one-selling rave-era band that produced such hits as “3AM Eternal” and “Justified & Ancient”. Cauty, as a founding member of The Orb, left indelible marks on the band’s style. The two split after just a few years of collaboration.

Since 2018 The Orb’s second member has been Michael Rendall.

Tickets to The Orb’s concert are available here.
