iDeeJazz Returns to Estonia

This popular jazz festival, which has roots in Tartu, is returning for its 15th season, but this time concerts will be held not only in Tartu, but Viimsi and Narva as well. Featuring international and Estonian artists, audiences will be delighted by the range of jazz styles performed in the three cities. This is a guide for whom to see, and where.

Tartu’s iteration of iDeeJazz 2025 will be held in the Tubin Hall in Tartu, at Lossi 15. Performing musicians will be from Poland, Germany, France, Luxembourg, and of course Estonia. The first concert will be on 29 October by a joint ensemble of the Elleri School of Music and Tallinn’s MUBA, or the Tallinn College of Music and Ballet.

The second Tartu concert, the following day, will be performed by Kristjan Randalu of Estonia and Bodek Janke of Poland. The third night of Tartu concerts will be on 31 October at 18:00 by Singülar, from Luxembourg, Germany, and France, followed at 19:30 by Trio Ruben–Rämmal–Yaralyan of Estonia, consisting of top Estonian jazz musicians Tanel Ruben, Ara Yaralyan, and Rain Rämmal. This trio will be accompanied by a Tartu chorus directed by Liisa Rahusoo.

On 1 November in Narva at the University of Tartu’s Narva College at Raekoja plats 2, Singülar as mentioned above, and the Jeremy Pelt Quintet as mentioned hereafter, will each give a concert.

Performing in Viimsi’s Artium for the closing of iDeeJazz will be the Jeremy Pelt Quintet from the US. The quintet is fronted by Jeremy Pelt on the trumpet, who has been called “a technical marvel” by “JazzTimes”, and who has been recognised at Trumpeter of the Year multiple times by “DownBeat” magazine. This concert will take place on 2 November.

Tickets and more information are available here.
