Country Life Day in Pärnu

We’ve all been to Pärnu, by car, bus or boat, but have we actually experienced Pärnu County, outside of the city? What is life like for everyone else who isn’t in the urban, vacation areas of Pärnu? This is your chance to be welcomed into the local communities to see how regular people live, work, and celebrate life.

Country Life Day in Pärnu is an event sponsored by the European Union, the Estonian Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, and several local rural municipality governments. Together, they are working with local communities and homeowners, as well as businesses, to have an open-door day in several locations.

These locations are throughout Pärnu County, and include homes, as well as their gardens and courtyards, and farms, farmsteads, and more. Lääneranna rural municipality will have a fair and market with local goods, you can try out your equestrian skills, there will be pop-up home cafés, as well as concerts.

Audru will have similar activities, as well as wine-tasting and pizza from a stone oven. There will also be a fire show in the evening, a home zoo with over a hundred animals, activities for children, a smoked fish market, and more.

Häädemeeste will have a special Indonesian flavours event, as well as Koit Toome in concert. Põhja-Pärnumaa rural municipality will have a unique “pop-up cosmetics” event, as well as what is sure to be a very popular ice cream café. Tori will have a very unique event featuring alpacas, llamas, goats, and several other kinds of animals.

All locations will have something available to eat, as well as local goods to sample and purchase. The event takes place on 20 September. If you would like more information, see here.
