International Illustration Exhibition Opens Today in Tallinn

The Estonian Children’s Literature Centre will open an international exhibition, “Sea Change”, on 1 July. The exhibition highlights the critical state of the world’s oceans and ecosystems through art. The exhibition features postcards by almost 200 illustrators from around the world, and will run until 6 September 2025.

“Sea Change” is part of a global project by the International Centre for the Picture Book in Society at the University of Worcester, curated by illustrator Tobias Hickey. The exhibition highlights the worrying state of the oceans and ecosystems. The exhibition includes the works of, among others, Axel Scheffler, illustrator of the children’s book “Gruffalo’s Child”, Jackie Morris, and Roger Mello. The Estonian participants in the exhibition are Viive Noor and Catherine Zarip.

The exhibition is part of the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, and supports the Sustainable Development Goal “Life Below Water”. Before Tallinn, the exhibition toured South Korea, Great Britain, and the Bratislava Picture Book Biennial.
