Kristjan Randalu to present exclusive concert in Tallinn

 

On March 8, Estonian pianist and composer Kristjan Randalu will take the stage at Mustpeade Maja (The House of the Blackheads in English) in Tallinn for an exclusive composer’s concert. Known for his extensive performances across Europe and the United States, Randalu will be joined by his sister, acclaimed violinist Liisa Randalu, as well as the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste.

This event continues the series of exclusive composer concerts that highlight original works by Estonian composers. Randalu’s music is widely recognised for its deep sensitivity, nature-inspired themes, and cosmopolitan influences. The concert will feature the world premiere of his new piece, Three Soliloquies, alongside The Moment of Thy Dawn and Inner Asylum, compositions from the past decade.

Inner Asylum draws from Randalu’s personal memories of moving from Soviet Estonia to West Germany in 1988, exploring themes of displacement and inner refuge. Meanwhile, The Moment of Thy Dawn is inspired by nature and reflects on humanity’s responsibility toward environmental preservation.

Parts of the concert will be recorded and released internationally as an album. Randalu, a Grammy-nominated musician, has made his mark on both jazz and classical music worldwide.
