Pianists Ralf Taal and Kai Taal will perform pieces from one of the greatest musicals of the last century, West Side Story, at the Haapsalu Music School hall today, January 14.
The music for the musical was composed by one of the 20th century’s most renowned composers and conductors, Leonard Bernstein. During the concert, the audience will learn about the colourful and eventful life of Bernstein as a composer, pianist, and conductor, as well as insights into the musical itself, which has been performed worldwide for over 70 years.
West Side Story is a modern tale of forbidden love, hatred, prejudice, and the destructive consequences of violence. The story is set on the streets of 1950s New York, where two gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, battle for power and honour.
The piano concert in the spirit of West Side Story is free of charge and will last approximately 45 minutes, starting at 4.15 pm.
Haapsalu Music School, Kastani 7, Haapsalu.
