Inflation in Estonia above 4%

According to data released by Statistics Estonia, in October, the Consumer Price Index (which is the main indicator of inflation) increased by 4.1 per cent compared with October last year, and by 0.6 per cent compared with the previous month. Goods were 2.3 per cent and services 7.1 per cent more expensive than in October last year.

When it comes to goods, the price of food products increased by 5.8 per cent compared to a year ago, while motor fuel and electricity were cheaper.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia said that, compared with October 2023, the Consumer Price Index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, and phone services. “Among food products, the higher prices of non-alcoholic beverages (+20.4 per cent), fruits (+12.4 per cent) and vegetables (+5.5 per cent) drove up the index the most compared with October last year. Sugar was 23.3 per cent and fish and fish preparations 4.6 per cent cheaper,” added Veski
