The eighth annual Robotbattle competition took place in Tartu last weekend (November 1 and 2). More than 2,300 spectators from both Estonia and abroad saw as nearly 300 engineering enthusiasts competed for the title of having Estonia’s best battle robot.
The competition spanned two days, with Friday dedicated to students and Saturday for seasoned robotics enthusiasts. In the student category, the robots Luts and Jõmm took first place, each winning a trophy and 1,500 euros in prize money. On Saturday, Kyhvel claimed victory in the lightweight division, and The Thing triumphed in the heavyweight category, with both winners also receiving 1,500 euros.
Event organiser Rasmus Rohtla, from the AHHAA Science Centre, emphasised the importance of engaging students: “Our mission is to make engineering accessible and exciting. If even a few young participants leave with a passion for engineering, we consider it a success.”
