The Ryoji Ikeda Solo Exhibition will be held from November 2, 2024, to March 2, 2025, at the Estonian National Museum in Tartu. Known worldwide for his extraordinary fusion of science, data, and art, Ikeda invites visitors into a multi-sensory experience where digital artistry meets profound scientific insights. The exhibition demonstrates Ikeda’s exploration of genomics and human expression.
Among the highlights is “the critical paths“, a new installation inspired by genomic data from the University of Tartu. Visitors walk through a 25-metre corridor where LED screens display a powerful visual flow of human genomic data, enveloping them in the narrative of human history. Another work, “vox aeterna,” features a haunting composition woven from the voices of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, that creates a soundscape evoking the timeless nature of human voice and emotion.
Ikeda’s acclaimed “data-verse 1” will also be on display, which dives into an ocean of data visualisations that bridge the micro and macro scales of existence.
Through this exhibition, Ikeda combines art and science to offer visitors a perspective both intimate and cosmic.
