Oktoberfest comes to Tallinn

The Oktoberfest beer festival will take place this Friday, October 11, at the Unibet Arena in Tallinn. Attendees can expect an evening filled with live music by the Estonian band Justament, along with a variety of games, rich choice of authentic German food, and most importantly beer imported directly from Munich.

Originally starting in 1810 as a royal wedding celebration in Munich, Oktoberfest has since transformed into one of the world’s largest and most celebrated folk festivals, attracting millions who seek to revel in its rich traditions and festive atmosphere. The Tallinn Oktoberfest aims to replicate the festive spirit of its Munich counterpart, offering both locals and tourists a unique opportunity to experience Bavarian culture right in the heart of Estonia’s capital.

A key part of the Oktoberfest experience lies in the traditional outfits worn by attendees. Women often wear dirndls (dresses from German-speaking areas of the Alps) and men lederhosen (traditional leather shorts worn by men in South-Germany). It is possible to hire these from costume hire services such as Maskeraad, as well as buy on the day at the venue. However they are not mandatory, but German-style accessories such as hats, Bavarian flags, and scarves, will definitely add to the mood.

Various ticket options are available to suit different preferences and group sizes. Regular tables accommodating 6 to 8 people are priced at 39 euros per person. For those looking for a more exclusive experience, supporter tables for up to 8 guests can be reserved at a cost of 2000 euros per table. Additionally, single tickets can be purchased for 44.60 euros per person, without a fixed table reservation, meaning you don’t need to be with a bigger group to attend.

For further information and tickets, visit the official Oktoberfest website.
