Estonian Bread Day and Autumn Market at Open Air Museum

Estonian Bread Day and Autumn Market will take place at the Estonian Open Air Museum today, September 15. The event honours Estonia’s baking traditions and the autumn harvest with a programme suitable for the whole family. Visitors can learn about the development of Estonian food culture and sample freshly baked breads made using age-old recipes and techniques – with rye bread taking centre stage.

Held at the Estonian Open Air Museum, located on the edge of Tallinn in the scenic Rocca al Mare district, the event offers a look into Estonia’s rural past. The museum spans a large area, showcasing Estonian village life from the 17th to the 20th century. Visitors can explore traditional architecture, including farms, churches, and windmills, and learn about old Estonian villages.

In addition to the bread celebration, the museum will host a market featuring local producers and artisans selling fresh bread, cheese, vegetables, honey, and handmade crafts. The market provides a wonderful opportunity to experience Estonian traditional culture, food, and crafts in a charming setting.

For more information about the event, visit the Estonian Open Air Museum’s website.
