The magical Mustjala Festival begins in Saaremaa

 

The four-day Mustjala Music Festival begins in Saaremaa today, June 26. The festival’s programme is diverse, encompassing classical, contemporary, folk, and jazz music. Festival venues include churches, the scenic Tagaranna fishing village, Loona and Pidula manors, the Ninase holiday village, and the deep-sea harbour of Saaremaa. 

The opening concert on Wednesday, June 26, will be held at Mustjala Anna Church. It features Austrian musicians Emmanuel Tjeknavorian on violin, Sarah Rachlin McElravy on viola, and Jeremias Fliedl on cello. They will perform pieces by renowned composers Franz Schubert and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

On Thursday, June 27, pianist Irina Zahharenkova will perform at the Mustjala Day Centre. Her repertoire includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Frédéric Chopin.

Friday, June 28, the ME106 Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Andrus Kallastu, takes the stage at Mustjala Anna Church. Their programme features compositions by Dmitri Shostakovich, Arvo Pärt, and Arnold Schoenberg.

The festival concludes on Saturday, June 29 with an outdoor concert at Ninase Holiday Village in Saaremaa. The Janno Trump Trio, with Joel-Rasmus Remmel on keyboards and Ramuel Tafenau on percussion, will deliver a captivating performance.
