Jazzkaar concerts also come to Tartu

Jazzkaar, which started on Saturday, is a national event in Estonia. The concerts are mainly organized in Tallinn, but a few of the festival’s concerts can also be enjoyed in the Estonian summer city of Pärnu and this year’s European Capital of Culture, Tartu.

Today, April 23, Swiss musician and composer Tobias Preisig will perform at the Estonian National Museum in Tartu. He released the solo album “Closer” last year, which is a meditative journey in the middle of a spring landscape.

The second concert in Tartu can be heard on Thursday, April 25 at Tartu’s Clockwork Studio, which is located on the premises of Tartu song festival grounds radio house. In the evening’s concert, the “NoSax NoClar duo formed by Julien Stella and Bastien Weeger will present their latest studio album “No Dåhïss”. The piece is playful and features saxophone. It is influenced by both Celtic and Berber musical traditions.

“It is complex and tightly woven music, but always playful, NoSax NoClar moves along the coast with a light dance step, like the wind that passes from Israel to Egypt, momentarily resting, without storms, but still full of tremendous energy” describes Guillaume Malvois in the online magazine Point Break.

Tickets for Jazzkaar’s concerts can be bought at Piletikeskus.
