Legendary American composer, musician, and artist William Basinski will perform a full-length concert at the Paavli Culture Factory in Tallinn this evening – Sunday, April 21. Maarja Nuut and Nikolajev will also perform at the concert.
William Basinski, who trained in classical clarinet and jazz saxophone, was born in Texas, USA, in 1958. The avant-garde musician from a Catholic family is a sound artist, video artist, clarinetist, and saxophonist who uses obsolete technology and analog tapes to create haunting and melancholic soundscapes.
His discography includes one of the most legendary works of ambient music of all time, the two-part and four-disc “The Disintegration Loops”, which is considered one of the most important releases of contemporary experimental music. Music from the album “The Disintegration Loops” has also been performed with an orchestra, for example, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
Tickets for this evening’s concert at Paavli Culture Factory in Tallinn are still available at Fienta.
