Observe the stars this week in Tartu

Every evening from February 26 to March 3, you will be able to gaze upon the stars and learn about space as part of a special observation week at the Tartu Observatory. The evenings, which will be free of charge to attend, will start at 7 pm and last for two hours.
“The starry sky has always captured people’s imagination and attention. Although we often glance at the sky, we still do not have an exact idea of how far different celestial bodies are from us. In the observatory, you can discuss these topics and admire the expanse of the sky with the historical Zeiss telescope,” explained Kaarel Nõmmela, the Curator of Education at Tartu University.
As expected, the event which will run through the February school holidays, will be dependent on the weather. Therefore, each day at 6 pm (one hour before the event starts), the observatory will publish details of the evening’s activities on its website and Facebook page.
Entrance to the observatory will be free of charge each evening during the observation week.
