Have you heard the stories of students jumping into the Emajõgi river with homemade aircraft?

Today, September 25, sees the beginning of one of the most exciting weeks of the student year at Tartu University. The week-long Tartu Student Days will see more than 150 events take place around the city especially for new and returning students – some of which have gone down in student folklore.

Have you heard the story of the quiz show with 300 participants? How about students jumping into the Emajõgi river with homemade aircraft? These and many other legendary campus stories come from the action-packed twice-yearly Tartu Student Days.

This year, about 150 different events will take place around the city which are specially catered to new and returning students. As just a taster, these include poetry slams, guided bike rides for architecture lovers, sock wrestling, quiz nights where you can pit your wits against fellow students, and not to forget – the Freshman Initiation.

The full programme of events can be found on the official Tartu Student Days website
