New exhibition about love opens at Solaris Gallery in Tallinn

Victoria Olt Gallery has opened a new exhibition entitled “I’ve Seen Love and it Looks Nothing Like This” at Solaris Gallery in Tallinn. The exhibition contains Victoria Olt’s paintings and poet David Xam’s poems.

The exhibition brings to visitors the multi-layered world of the artist, where complex emotions of love and the search for one’s own path are mixed from the time when Victoria Olt lived in Spain. The artworks are in symbiosis with David Xam’s poems, which have similarly grown out of the poet’s quest to heal his heart through writing.

Victoria Olt is a traditional artist whose ethereal paintings mix classical realism with the vibrant colours of contemporary art. She was born and spent her childhood in Estonia, then moving to Spain, where she studied fine arts at the University of Seville. The artist has also worked in Madrid and Amsterdam, returning to Estonia at the end of 2021 and opening the Victoria Olt Gallery on Viru Street in February 2022.

Poet David Xam is an abstract artist and writer based in Kashmir, India. His own personal experiences with love and loss inspired him to write poetry. He believes that writing itself is a healing process, a way to heal heart wounds and a catharsis in verbal expression.

“I’ve never been very good with words, so I started painting mainly to express what was in my head to the outside world. But of course, it didn’t take long to realise that I’m not the only one who feels that they are not seen,” said Olt.

The exhibition “I’ve Seen Love and it Looks Nothing Like This” will remain open in Solaris Gallery until the end of October. Admission is free of charge.
