Starting from today, Vabaduse Puistee in Tartu will be closed to vehicles. The traditional summer pedestrian street will see cars replaced with seating, stalls and various attractions for the whole family. In addition, there will be a programme of concerts throughout the month featuring top Estonian acts.
On the pedestrian street, that will run from Kaarsild Bridge to the junction with Narva Maantee, you will find climbing walls, water games, a carousel and other activities for younger members of the family. The street furniture used in previous years will also return along with a library, reading area and a selection of stalls.
There will also be programme of concerts throughout the month featuring popular Estonian acts such as Ivo Lina, Estonian Voices, Daniel Levi and Reket. To see the full cultural programme of concerts, performances, exhibitions, and more, click here.
The Car-Free Avenue will end on the first weekend of August when it will play host to the Tartu Food and Wine Festival.
