Concert bringing together Finnish and Estonian orchestral, choral and rock music to take place in Tallinn in DecemberThe Finnish band Saimaa will perform at the Alexela Concert Hall with the Pärnu City Orchestra on December 17

On December 17, the 30th birthday concert of Estonian conductor and musician Valter Soosalu will be held at the Alexela Concert Hall in Tallinn. The concert will see both classical groups and rock bands join forces, including the popular Finnish band Saimaa and Pärnu City Orchestra.

In the first half of the concert, the Academic Men’s Choir of Tallinn Technical University, Valter Soosalu’s Harpejji Band and the Pärnu City Orchestra will perform together with the rock band Põhja Konn. In the second half of the concert, Valter’s long-time dream of sharing the stage with Finnish band Saimaa and the Pärnu City Orchestra will be realised.

Although not all local music fans will be familiar with Saimaa’s work, the band has almost a dozen fruitful years of activity behind them, during which they have released records in collaboration with the renowned Finnish singer Pepe Willberg (“Pepe & Saimaa”) and rapper Pyhimys (“Olisinpä hälä”). Saimaa’s first album “Pepe & Saimaa” was awarded rock album of the year, male singer of the year (Pepe Willberg) and critics’ favourite at the Finnish music awards.

At the concert on December 17, songs made by Saimaa for the Yle documentary series “Urheilu-Suomi”, will be performed. In addition, Saimaa and Pärnu City Orchestra will also perform songs from the repertoire of Richard Strauss, Juice Leskinen, Yö, and Jean Sibelius.

Tickets for the concert are available from the Piletilevi ticketing portal here.
