Spinnaker OÜ, which operates ferry services between Tallinn and the neighbouring islands of the city, has acquired a catamaran named Vegtind for its fleet. Thanks to the fast ship, the one-way travel time to both Aegna and Naissaar is now only about 30 minutes.
Aegna is a great day trip destination. The island has good walking routes and many beautiful sandy beaches. Ferries to the island will begin on May 1 and end in October. Services to Aegna will run on all days of the week except Tuesdays. Going to Naissaar is only possible at weekends. There are two to three departures per day.
The Vegtind catamaran departs from Tallinn’s Linnahalli harbour, where Linda Line’s ships previously departed.
Tickets for the ferries can be purchased online here. For example, the return trip to the island of Aegna is only six euros. You can bring a bicycle on board for less than two euros.
In 2021, Spinnaker OÜ also started passenger ship operations on the Narva River. The new Caroline will operate between the city of Narva and the resort town of Narva-Jõesuu after a 30-year hiatus. Travel time on the Narva River in one direction is about an hour and a half.
