12 000 household have already received energy compensation

ETV’s Aktuaalne kaamera” reported yesterday (Thursday 27.01) that energy compensation has already been paid out to 12 000 households across Estonia.

Pärnu was one of the first areas to start accepting applications for energy compensation. So far, they have received 2000 applications, half of which have been paid out according to Raul Kivi, chief specialist of the Social Department of Pärnu City Government.

Kivi went on to explain that applications were usually being processed within 3-4 days, and that the highest amount of compensation paid out in the period of September to December was 1260 euros.

In Tallinn, around 1 in 10 of the 12 000 applications made so far have been rejected on the grounds of the applicant being above the income threshold, or the payout being below the minimum 10 euro government limit.

If you live in Tallinn and would like to know if you are eligible to receive compensation on your energy bills, please read our earlier news piece here. If you live outside Tallinn, contact your local municipality to learn more.
