Negative coronavirus test needed to enter Finland from today
Text and photo Timo Huttunen

From today, all visitors to Finland will need to show a negative coronavirus test within the past 48 hours, as well as proof of vaccination or recovery from the virus in the past 6 months. These requirements will last until at least 16 January.
This means a reintroduction of border controls when entering Finland from Schengen countries, similar to those that were in place from 19 March 2020 to 25 July 2021.
In addition to the new entry requirements, the Finnish government will also make a decision today regarding the possible introduction of new restrictions amidst record case numbers in the country.
A negative test result is not required to enter Finland for Finnish citizens, foreigners permanently residing in Finland, or persons whose entry is based on a necessary reason such as a compelling family matter or other compelling personal reason.
