Foreign tourists spent 95 million euros more in Estonia in Q1 2023

According to data published by Eesti Pank (the Bank of Estonia), foreign tourists spent 95 million euros more in Estonia in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2022. This is in large part a result of a 62 per cent increase in the number of foreign tourists, up from 449,423 trips in first four months of last year to 727,591 in 2023.
Foreign tourists spent a total of 246 million euros in Estonia in the first quarter of 2022. This was 95 million euros more than 151 million euros spent in the same period last year.
By far the largest number of tourists came from Finland. In the first quarter, the number of Finnish tourists was 338,139, or 46 per cent of all foreign tourists. The number of Finnish tourists more than doubling compared to last year. The second largest number of tourists came from Latvia, 127,240 people, or 17 per cent of all foreign tourists. Third was Germany, with 27,603 tourists, or four percent of foreign tourists. The number of tourists arriving from other European Union countries increased by 83 per cent in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year.
There were almost 450,000 multi-day trips, the average duration of which was 3.6 nights. On the contrary, 37 percent of all trips were day trips. The number of such trips increasing by 84 percent compared to last year.
